The public as in the community that couple lives in.

For example if you get a drivers license, it shows that you passed a driving exam and know the rules of the road. So how does this apply to marriage? How does it apply to gay marriages? Is the same necessity and benefit to the public or a couple, the same for a same-sex marriage as it is for a heterosexual marriage? If so, how and if not why not?

My girlfriend is all wrapped in this guy she met a few towns over at a bar. They have been seeing each other for about five months and my friend is thinking this might be the guy for her. I have serious doubts about this guy’s honesty as he says that he got a divorce about a year ago from his wife of ten years. I am determine to prove that this guy is still married, so I am in desperate need to figure out how to do a marriage records search on him. Can anyone help?
